It never fails.
A very intelligent person finally makes the leap to start their own business.
They diligently research the market. They determine their customer avatar. They create their offer.
Then they start posting.
And this is where things start going wrong.
They post too much information.
Their posts are too logical, too analytical, too technical.
Here are a couple of AI generated examples:

In a previous newsletter I talked about how humans are “psycho”logical buyers, rather than logical buyers.
Thus, people do not respond to informative posts. They ignore them.
If anything, information repels people and triggers protest behavior.
There’s a reason why people ignore their doctors, or avoid going altogether. They don’t want to hear someone tell them that they need to “eat better and exercise more.”
This is essentially what you’re doing in your LinkedIn posts — giving information that is boring, forgettable, and makes you look like every other guru.
So if demonstrating competency and posting valuable information for your ideal client doesn’t work, then what does?
Enter the art of persuasive storytelling.
When you come from an analytical background such as myself (I was a mechanical engineer long before I entered the solopreneurship world), you tend to think of the world through simple logic.
In your mind it makes sense that that if you build something that solves a problem for people, then talk directly about that problem, people who want that problem solved will buy.
But that’s not how humans operate.
Long before mathematics, written information, or complex systems that required deep analytical thinking ever existed, humans taught and learned life lessons through stories.
And this wasn’t done out of enjoyment. It was a matter of survival.
Thus our brains are hardwired at the most subconscious level to be highly responsive to storytelling. It is the original form of persuasive communication.
And to this day, it remains the most effective form of persuasive communication.
All major religious texts were born from thousands of years of storytelling
Icarus flying too close too the sun teaching us about arrogance
The Tortoise and the Hare teaching us that slow and steady wins the race
The Good Samaritan teaching us about having compassion for others
The Boy Who Cried Wolf teaching us about integrity, trust, and honesty
The vast majority of the wisdom you hold was not learned through a text book, a manual, and most definitely not through a LinkedIn post containing “5-steps to improve your business”
If you want people to come to you, asking how they can work with you or how they can purchase from you, then you must learn to communicate the value of your offer through storytelling that appeals to human emotion over logical thinking.
This is how you differentiate yourself from everyone else create a magnetic personal brand that turns complete strangers into paying customers.
If you’ve been posting on LinkedIn for more than a month and have yet to secure a paying client, then now is the time to quit being ignored and start securing clients that pay. Click the button below to inquire.
